Internship Program Intern Gain first-hand knowledge in the hospitality industry while spending a semester in a unique island resort setting. Moody Gardens’ goal is to help our interns gain a broader understanding of the industry and how to provide a memorable guest experience.  To achieve this goal, interns focus on a specific department while rotating to a new department one day a week to gain experience in all areas of hotel management.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Golf Course Sales Manager  is responsible for all sales operations for the Moody Gardens Golf Course.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.  The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Increase ALL tournament green fees, cart fees, range, pro shop merchandise, and food & beverage sales through standard sales operating procedures.
  • Oversees Grill Staff of five.
  • Execute outbound sales call requirements.
  • Create and implement lead generation strategies.
  • Identify and pursue target markets by monitoring club and community demographics, along with out of town prospects
  • Build strong relationships with local hotels, chambers of commerce and conference venues
  • Utilize a contact database daily to build and maintain prospects, track leads and accurately report sales progress
  • Manage event administration and logistics with regards to contracts, BEO’s, invoices, etc.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with event host; meeting and greeting organizer at event (if applicable); follow up with event host to ensure satisfaction and maximize referrals and repeat bookings
  • Ensure smooth execution of events by collaborating with department heads.
  • Implement and support all Moody Gardens initiatives and programs as requested by management
  • Sell other functions such as weddings, business meetings, social functions, etc.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

 

 

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree preferred
  • 2 years prior Sales experience preferably in Golf/Hospitality/Service industry preferred

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Must have a genuine caring service coupled with a high level of professionalism and energy
  • Exceptional customer service skills, a wonderful, warm personality, very organized, and detail oriented team player also a must
  • Must have the ability to successfully multi-task with project deadlines and sales activities
  • Must possess extraordinary leadership skills along with a proven track record in sales, with strong closing skills
  • Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 20-30 pounds

JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Golf Professional will assist with the management of daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising golf staff, assisting with merchandising functions, managing tournament, teaching lessons, and providing other professional services to ensure and exceptional golf experience.

  • Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional
  • Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons
  • Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee is collected in coordination with the starter
  • Manage the total operation of the practice facility
  • Provide golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures
  • Supervise, schedule and train golf shop personnel as directed by the head professional.
  • Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise
  • Manage the club repair business
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
  • Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services
  • Manage the handicap program
  • Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf course operations
  • Assist in managing tournaments and outings
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

 

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree preferred
  • Prior golf experience required
  • Class “A” PGA member in good standing or apprentice working towards membership

COCKTAIL SERVER:

The Cocktail Server is responsible for the service of beverages in a friendly, courteous and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

BARTENDER:

The Bartender is responsible for the service of beverages and/or food to the guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Also to prepare beverages for other servers to supply to guests. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

SHEARN’S-SERVER ASSISTANT:

This incumbent is authorized to set up and clear tables, stock all service stations, and assist food servers with table service to ensure total guest satisfaction. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

SHEARN’S HOST/HOSTESS:

The primary purpose of this position is to arrange guest seating assignments to servers. As a front line employee the host/hostess is the director of first impressions. Host/Hostess are expected to provide prompt, courteous, friendly and professional service to all Moody Gardens guests at all times. Host/Hostess are required to be detailed in every aspect of their work while maintaining an efficient pace. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

SERVER:

The Server is responsible for order taking and delivery of any food and beverage items to guests. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

SERVER ASSISTANT:

The Server Assistant is authorized to set up and clear tables, stock all service stations, and assist food servers with table service to ensure total guest satisfaction. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

BEVERAGE MANAGER:

The Beverage Manager is authorized to oversee operation of the pool and lobby bars to ensure complete guest satisfaction. Must have TABC and Food Handlers certification.

RESERVATIONS SUPERVISOR:

The Reservations Supervisor is to supervise the Reservations Agents and ensure they are answering telephone inquiries in a friendly and courteous manner, and employ sales techniques in order to secure and process reservations for guest accommodations in a timely manner. The reservation’s supervisor will also ensure the high standards of four diamonds will be upheld with all agents for every call.
