The Banquet Manager is responsible for insuring the highest quality of service throughout the food and beverage operations of Moody Gardens and development of new concepts which insure guest satisfaction.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in related field required

Prior Banquet or Catering experience preferred

Banquets Cook

The Banquet Cook is responsible for making food according the restaurant orders, and per the Executive Chef’s instructed recipes.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent required

5 years prior experience in similar position

Must obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning work

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Must be reliable and responsible

Ability to read, listen, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing

Basic math skills to understand measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes

Ability to operate kitchen appliances such as stoves, ovens, mixers, etc.

Knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing up to 50 pounds regularly

Ability to perform duties in confined spaces

Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time

Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.

Guest Services Guest Services Manager

GUEST SERVICES MANAGER

Reports To:          Rooms Division Manager                        Department: Guest Services

Classification: Full Time                                        Division: Rooms

JOB SUMMARY:

The Guest Services Manager is responsible for assuring complete success of Guest Services, with a strong orientation toward customer service and quality. It is expected that Guest Services Manager participates in expanding and improving service quality throughout the hotel. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of all areas of Guest Services including interviewing, hiring, training, staffing, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving service issues.

POSITION AUTHORITY:

The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.

POSITION GUIDELINES:

Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives.  The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain regular and constant contact with Guest Services Associates and monitor their contact with guests
  • Measure current levels of service performance against previously measured benchmarked performance and constantly strives for improvement
  • Provide constant feedback to hotel management and department heads concerning services issues, including guest desires, complaints and comments
  • Maintain open and excellent communication with all department heads
  • Empower and coach associates in providing technically proficient, courteous, and timely service
  • Train guest service associates and insures level of service to 4 Diamond standards
  • Make certain phones are answered to Moody Gardens Hotel phone etiquette
  • Maintain up-to-date status on in-house groups, functions, arrivals and departures
  • Review VIP arrivals and makes certain that guest’s needs for special requests are met
  • Present innovative ideas to hotel management
  • Conduct periodic department meetings
  • Make certain that the Moody Gardens Hotel approved guest services technology is used to its fullest capacity
  • Cross-train Guest Services Agents with Front Desk agents and Reservations agents
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed and enforced in a fair and balanced manner
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School or equivalent education required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience as assistant manager/supervisor
  • Supervisory experience preferred                                             

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • CPR Certification and/or First Aid training preferred.
  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate
  • Ability to read, listen to and effectively communicate in English
  • Must possess basic computational skills and computer skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand and move throughout front office and continuously perform essential job functions
  • Hearing and visual; ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
  • Assisting guests which may require bending, stooping, reaching overhead and moving through guest floors

Moody Gardens offers a paid internship program that provides daily work experience guaranteed to educate interns on the company culture and philosophy. Moody Gardens’ internships are offered in several areas throughout the company and may vary by job description or availability.

Moody Gardens Hotel recognizes and acknowledges the need to provide interns with adequate training and knowledge to succeed in the hospitality industry. We recognize the value of our interns and are always looking to hire interns as Moody Gardens employees.

Interns will be exposed to multiple areas of Moody Gardens Hotel including:  front desk, reservations, guest services, spa, pool bar, lobby bars, The Terrace Restaurant, Harbormaster, night audit, banquets, housekeeping and children’s programs. Moody Gardens looks for interns who are bright, energetic, possess good communication skills, have great attention to detail and able to relate to guests and co-workers.

Spring Internships: Available from January – May. Students must commit for the entire term and must plan to work during any holidays or weekends over that period.

Summer Internships: Available from May-August. Students must commit for the entire term and must plan to work during any holidays or weekends over that period.

Fall Internships: Available from September – November. Students must commit for the entire term and must plan to work during any holidays or weekends over that period.

Moody Gardens’ intern program offers:

  • A full-time staff level position at a minimum $10.00 per hour.
  • One or two job rotations (Depending on the time at the resort).
  • Exposure to management and supervisory functions.
  • Housing assistance with furnished apartments at a great price.

Reservations Revenue Coordinator

The Hotel Revenue Coordinator will be responsible for:

Assisting the revenue manager in creating accurate weekly information and documents for the ROC as it pertains to:

  1. Group versus Leisure displacement reporting: Maintain a daily rate displacement spreadsheet and review, verify and present to RM weekly/monthly for review and forward learning of the ROC
  2. Assist during high call volume and assist GRC when group needs dictate
  3. 30-60-90- rate strategies prepared and submitted to the RM for review prior to ROC meeting
  4.  Reporting to the ROC for market demand and extracting need dates for review in ROC
