  | | | With his father in the country music business, Tyler Hammond naturally gravitated to the genre. While growing up in a small town in Kansas, he performed in church pageants, corporate and social functions, high school plays and musicals such as South Pacific and West Side Story. After his mother died when Hammond was a teenager, he moved to Dallas and began signing with his father’s band. The 21-year-old started playing the guitar and writing songs a couple of years ago, and he says his ultimate goal is to finish college and to make it to the top of the country music charts.www.myspace.com/tylerhammondb3s *** | |

 | | | Believing that “art is an expression of life,” much of the subject matter of Rolando Diaz’s work comes from his extensive travels and personal experiences. The native Cuban-American artist, who was born in Havana at the dawn of the Communist regime, has traveled throughout the world to capture images for the artwork he uses to raise funds for those less fortunate. A painter since childhood, Diaz received his bachelor's degree in fine art and has exhibited in museums, galleries and private homes, slowly building a solid collector's list that includes clients such as Liza Minnelli and BJ Thomas. Also an accomplished singer, writer and actor, in 2007 Diaz received the distinguished alumni award from Abilene Christian College. A documentary about his return to Cuba is scheduled for release on PBS in 2008. | |
